Tears at Night
By Holly L Schippers

We brought our baby home
With love and tender care
We had envisioned many times
Having our baby there

Little hands and little feet
Little tears at night
Singing lullabies
That she would be alright

We carried her in together
Holding hands walking slow
We brought our baby home
But little did we know

The tears at night
Belong only to us
Our little girl lays quiet
Never to make a fuss

We brought our baby home
In a little urn so unreal
We had her just one night
To hold close and to feel

Now we lay her down to rest
Among family in the ground
Just the two of us
With no one else around

Lay her down gently
Before I fall apart
Buried with love and tears
And pieces of our hearts

Our baby is at home
In our hearts and through our love
We know she is taken care of
By family up above

Her First Christmas
by Holly L. Schippers

snow is falling
thanksgiving is past
lights are going up
sparkling as you pass

feel others joy in the air
happiness of a holiday
decorate a tree
what does it say

it says merry christmas
to our dear little girl
tiny little ornaments
for one not of this world

she will not tip it over
nor share a gummy smile
we will not see the lights
twinkle in her eyes

her first christmas
she watches from above
our little angel
we remember and we love

This page created in the memory of Caitlin Grace.

Caitlin Grace was a miracle baby, conceived in spite of an infertility diagnosis and PCOS. At 18 weeks 2 days Caitlin's heart stopped, she has trisonomy 21 (Downs Syndrome). One in four hundred and fifty couples that are genetically normal will have a child with trisonomy 21. Caitlin was born August 31, 2005. She never took a breath outside the womb but the miracle of her life taught us more about hope and love than we ever could have imagined. She will always be a part of us and we will never forget.

In honor of Caitlin I have volunteered with the Angel Teddy Bear Foundation. Here are some links that I hope you will find useful if you have suffered a loss and need some support in your time of grief whether it was yesterday or ten years ago. I know you remember, and there are so many who share your pain.
